04 Jan January Press Release
The Bognor Regis Creative Digital Hub project has been awarded £500,000 by the Coast to Capital LEP’s Local Growth Fund. The funding will contribute to the cost of turning the Hub spaces at Bognor Regis railway station into an exciting collaborative workspace for creative and digital businesses.
Louise Goldsmith said: “This is fantastic news and a ringing endorsement of the work and commitment we have put in to Bognor Regis over the past few years to develop Bognor as a creative hub in which we can nurture and develop talent.”
Negotiations are currently underway with Southern Rail and Network Rail to lease the space at Bognor Regis railway station, and procurement will be carried out in early January 2018 to appoint an operator for the hub. The hub is due to open in the summer of 2018.
Led by the County Council, the proposed hub and its activities will support more than 150 businesses at any one time by providing shared working space, business support and networking events.
The hub’s aim is to create high value jobs in the creative digital sector by providing a shared workspace for businesses. It will provide a place where start-ups and freelancers can work side by side, share facilities and network and have access to training and support.
The County Council has developed the project in partnership with Arun District Council and with the support of Hemingway Design.
An event will be held in January for members of the Bognor Creative Digital Community. The event will feature an update on the physical hub at the station and will have time allocated for three minute informal speed pitches which will give community members the opportunity to promote their work and learn more about each other. Further details on the event will follow in the new year.
